Panchakarma is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy that involves a series of cleansing and rejuvenating treatments designed to restore the body’s natural balance and promote overall health and well-being.
Panchakarma is a core Ayurvedic purification and detoxification therapy aimed at cleansing the body of accumulated toxins and restoring balance to the doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha). This five-step process is tailored to each person’s constitution and health needs, making it highly personalized for healing and rejuvenation.
At Pure Health Ayurveda, Panchakarma involves the following main therapies:
Vamana (Therapeutic Emesis): Vamana, or controlled vomiting, is used for Kapha imbalances. This process releases excess mucus, cleanses the respiratory and digestive systems, and removes toxins from the stomach, especially helpful for conditions like asthma, sinusitis, and congestion.
Virechana (Purgation Therapy): Virechana targets Pitta dosha imbalances through gentle purgation, focusing on the liver, gallbladder, and intestines. It is particularly beneficial for skin disorders, acidity, and inflammation.
Basti (Enema Therapy): Basti is the most effective therapy for Vata imbalances. Medicated oils or herbal decoctions are introduced into the colon to eliminate deep-seated toxins, supporting bowel health and conditions like arthritis, constipation, and neurological disorders.
Nasya (Nasal Administration): Nasya administers medicated oils or herbal powders through the nostrils to cleanse the head region, specifically benefiting the sinuses, migraines, and chronic headaches.
Raktamokshana (Bloodletting): Traditionally used to purify the blood, Raktamokshana addresses Pitta-related issues such as skin disorders and inflammation. However, it’s important to note that Raktamokshana therapies are currently not approved in the UAE.
Panchakarma at Pure Health Ayurveda includes preparatory treatments like Snehana (oiling) and Swedana (sweating) to loosen toxins, followed by post-treatment care to stabilize and rejuvenate the body. Each therapy is carefully supervised to ensure a safe and effective detoxification and renewal process.
